Ateneo de Manila University and Leave a Nest Philippines forge strategic partnership to empower innovation

Ateneo de Manila University and Leave a Nest Philippines officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to establish a strategic partnership. The signing took place on 17 March 2023 with Ateneo de Manila President Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, and Leave a Nest Philippines Director Ms Ronezza delos Santos, as signatories. The signing of the agreement was also witnessed by Dr Yukihiro Maru, CEO and Founder of Leave a Nest Japan; Dr Yuko Ueno, Managing Director of Leave a Nest Japan; Dr Proceso L Fernandez Jr, Director of the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO); and Engr Benjamin N Mirasol, AIPO’s Head of Commercialization and Business Incubation. The signing ceremony was followed by a short tour of Ateneo's research laboratories and facilities.

The MOA highlights the mutual points of collaboration between the two organizations, including co-organizing events and activities that foster innovation and the sharing of expertise and resources between Ateneo and Leave a Nest. AIPO has committed to facilitate engagements between Leave a Nest and researchers, technologies, and startups from its community for potential incubation, funding, or acceleration. Meanwhile, Leave a Nest Philippines will facilitate industry-academe engagements between its partners and Ateneo's researchers, technologies, and startups, as well as provide potential post-incubation roadmaps for Ateneo's startups. The organization will also promote joint activities and provide adoption and technology transfer opportunities for Ateneo's technologies.

This partnership between Ateneo and Leave a Nest Philippines is a promising collaboration that aims to empower innovation and drive growth in the fields of science and technology. To maximize this partnership, several activities have already been planned by the two parties, including co-organizing a Tech Planter competition, and an international knowledge exchange program.
