Nov 2022 Bar: Ateneo Law yields highest percent of passers for schools with over 100 candidates
14 Apr 2023
The Ateneo de Manila University School of Law achieved a 96.74% passing rate in the 2022 Bar Examinations. This puts the University as the school with the highest number of passers among schools with over 100 candidates.
Ateneo came out ahead of San Beda University, with a 96.67% passing rate; the University of the Philippines, with 94.27%; the University of San Carlos, with 91.43%; and the University of Santo Tomas, with 78.09%.
In addition, the University had the second-highest percentage of passing first-time takers, with 97.24%—176 out of 181—passing, compared to 97.58% from San Beda University.
The University's high passing rate comes in the face of a decreasing overall passing rate for the licensure exam. Of 9,183 candidates, only 3,992, or 43.4% passed the 2022 Bar Examination, which was conducted over four days in November at 14 testing centers across the Philippines.
The preceding 2021 Bar Examinations, on the other hand, yielded a 72.28% passing rate. This examination was the first to take place under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the top 30 passing candidates from the 2022 Bar Examinations, 8 come from the Ateneo. These are:
