Ateneo Grade School - KEMC recognizes library patrons’ achievements through year-end awards

The AGS’ Katigbak Educational Media Center (KEMC) held an awarding ceremony for the Reading Champions and Readers of Year on April 12, 14, 17, and 18, 2023. 

The Reading Champions award is given to the section with the biggest number of student book borrowers, while the Readers of the Year is awarded to the top three (3) students from each grade level who borrowed the most books for the entire school year. These awards were discussed in class during the Media and Information Literacy Program (MILP) sessions. The class’ standing in relation to these awards is presented every quarter to encourage more students to read and borrow more books and magazines. 

Together with Bibo (the library mascot who represents a book-loving boy), the MILP teachers visited the classrooms of the winners. The Reading Champions got a class banner while the Readers of the Year received a certificate and simple goodies. The class teachers of the winners were also present during the awarding to witness and celebrate the awards won by their classes and students. 

The MILP Teachers felt the excitement and joy of the students when Bibo walked along the corridors and went into the classrooms. It is hoped that through these year-end awards, more Ateneans will be motivated to be IN: informed about the library services, inspired to use library resources, and involved in library activities.
