Ang & Tango are SLIDE-UP debate champs; Barbacena is Finals Best Speaker

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School debaters dominated the Southern Luzon Inter-High School Debate Encounter (SLIDE-UP) XIV, which was held online from April 1-2, 2023. The finals were a battle between two ASHS teams, with the composite team of Jasmin Ang (11-Nakaura) & Samuel Tango (11-Torres) taking home the Open Championship after a close 4-3 split against the team of Daniella Barbacena (12-Anchieta), Kiel Mirandilla (11-Hurtado), & Pio Ventura (12-Xavier).
Our debaters were also recognized individually for their spectacular performances, taking home multiple awards including the highest speaker award. Leading them was Daniella Barbacena, who was awarded as the Finals Best Speaker. Kiel Mirandilla and Pio Ventura were named co-2nd Best Open Speakers, while Jasmin Ang and Samuel Tango were recognized as co-7th Best Open Speakers.
SLIDE-UP attracted more than 200 debaters/67 teams from across the Philippines.
