Grade 2 Ateneans donate P458K to ACED

At a simple ceremony held in the Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) Heritage Room on May 4, 2023, a donation of P458,773.67 raised by Grade 2 Ateneans and their parents was turned over to the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED). The donation will be used for the Raymundo Punongbayan Elementary School feeding program and was the Bigay Puso project of the 2nd grade boys for School Year 2022-2023.  

The students and their parents raised the funds by creating Bigay Puso “alkansyas.” After each Grade 2 boy introduced his Bigay Puso partner to his parents and siblings, the members of the household were then inspired to think up ways to save funds for the Bigay Puso partner, making for a memorable family activity. The money collected in all the alkansyas of the batch was then donated to ACED, the main beneficiary of the Grade 2 Bigay Puso program.

Present at the turnover were Jervy Robles, AGS Headmaster, who delivered the opening remarks; Donaray Salvaña, AGS Social Involvement Office Coordinator for SY 2022-2023, who showed a video highlighting the experience of the students and their parents during their online interaction with teachers and students of Raymundo Punongbayan Elementary School; Rosina Bakunawa, an AGS Grade 2 Class Parent Representative (CPR) who spoke on behalf of the parents; Virgie Gayda-Esteves, AGS Assistant Principal for Formation, who gave the closing remarks; and Dr. Carmela Oracion, ACED Director, who received the donation for the Center. Also present at the turnover ceremony were Dr. Leland Joseph Dela Cruz, Assistant Vice President for Social Development, Environment, and Community Engagement of Ateneo de Manila University; and other AGS students, faculty, administrators, and CPRs.
