Ateneo de Manila University, through the John Gokongwei School of Management, is now a Partner School of the Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge (MECC). This makes Ateneo the first MECC Partner School in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia. The university is also the third official MECC Partner School in Asia.
The MECC is a global competition for university students that tests Excel modeling and logical thinking skills. The competition involves case studies and preparation of financial models under individual and team categories.
The annual competition is organized by the Financial Modeling World Cup and the University of Arizona–Eller College of Management.
As a Partner School, select Ateneo students will receive access to monthly challenges, case studies, and promotional materials, and will be able to compete in all three rounds of the upcoming tournament.
During the previous MECC season in October 2022, four Ateneo teams placed in the top 13 out of 246 teams competing globally. During the maiden MECC season in April-May 2022, two Ateneo teams placed in the top 20 of more than 120 competing teams.
