Ateneo Debate Society (ADS) clinched victory in all three prestigious Asian debating competitions this year, demonstrating their remarkable debating prowess. Their triumphant journey began at Asian British Parliamentary (ABP) 2022 in January, followed by UADC 2023 in June, and most recently, ABP 2023. This year's ABP was held last 23 to 27 September 2023, hosted by the Malaysian Institute for Debate and Public Speaking (MIDP).
- Beatrice Cuizon (4 AB MEC) and Rivaldo Aquino (4 BS ES), representing Ateneo 1, emerged as the champions in the Asian Championship! Their remarkable performance earned them individual accolades as well, with Bea being recognized as the Finals Best Speaker and both debaters receiving speaker awards—4th Best Speaker for Bea and 6th Best Speaker for Rivaldo.
- Two other Ateneo teams excelled in the competition, with Ateneo 2 (Riva Fong and Aly Barranda) and Ateneo 3 (Kyle Go and Pao Taino) reaching the quarterfinals. They secured the sixteenth and fourteenth positions, respectively, in the open category.
- Tobi Leung, an Invited Adjudicator from Ateneo, stood out as the Overall Best Judge, contributing significantly to the success of the ADS. Tobi also participated as a panelist for the EFL Finals.
- Adding to their achievements, David Africa, representing the Philippines in the Adjudication Core, played a pivotal role in constructing debate motions and served as a panelist for the Open Semifinals and EFL Pre-Finals.
The Ateneo Debate Society proudly congratulates its delegation for their exceptional performance, which not only brings glory to their institution but also to the Philippines. One Big Fight!
