Ateneo de Manila University wins IPOPHL IP CIRCLE League - The AD category

Ateneo de Manila University, through the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), recently won the IP C.I.R.C.L.E League competition organized by the IP Academy of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). The IP C.I.R.C.L.E League is a multi-competition that allows participants from different universities to Create, Interact, Refine, Compete, Learn, and Experience intellectual property. The competition was held on November 17, 2023, at the IPOPHL Multipurpose Hall in Taguig City.

The IP C.I.R.C.L.E. League was comprised of four (4) different competitions, including 1) The Quiz, a knowledge and skills competition that aimed to enrich the IP learning experience of students; 2) The Debate, which aimed to uncover and openly discuss gray areas in the intellectual property laws of the country through a healthy exchange of ideas in a form of debate following a modified Oxford-Oregon format; 3) The Story, a short film-making competition that showed the role of intellectual property in social issues; and 4) The Ad, a digital poster-making competition that aimed to strengthen IP advocacies. 

Ateneo made a significant impact by securing the championship in "The Ad" category, thanks to their exceptional team composed of three talented freshmen participants: Ms Raine Victoria Prieto (BS PolSci), Ms Samantha Louise Amansec (BS MIS), and Ms Danielle Baldono (BS Physics). Guiding the team is the Head of the Protection and Education Group (PEG) of the AIPO, Ms Vanessa Malapit, MSc. 

The winning poster is centered around the theme “A Citizen’s Code: The 6 Responsibilities of IP Protection,” highlighting the crucial roles that individuals play in the process of researching, recording, registering, reviewing, reporting, and reinforcing intellectual property rights.

This not only highlights the six responsibilities but also inspires individuals to take an active role in the preservation and promotion of intellectual property rights. It also reminds us that IP protection is a collective effort, and every citizen has a part to play in fostering a culture of respect, innovation, and creativity.

Ateneo's remarkable performance in "The Ad" category marked a significant achievement, adding to the university's growing legacy of success in intellectual property competitions. This outstanding accomplishment underscores Ateneo's commitment to fostering innovation and promoting a culture of intellectual property awareness within and beyond its academic community.
