To my fellow Ateneo Law School alumni, faculty members and students:
As promised by this year’s Bar Chair, Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, the results of the bar exams administered last September have today been officially released and I am delighted to share the news that based on the records of the Supreme Court, our Ateneo Law School ranked first among all law schools that had more than 100 bar candidates in the bar exams held last September 2023, registering a 94.08% passing rate among first time takers.
In terms of individual rankings, three (3) of our students ranked among the top twenty (20) passers.
I trust that we all share in the ineffable joy felt by of each one of our Ateneo Law alumni bar passers—for many of us, we remember only too well what that feels like—and all collectively glow in overwhelming pride in this, their accomplishment and that of our institution.
But tough a test the bar exams may be, and essential as they are to our bar passers’ career quest, the more exacting challenge to their becoming and being Ateneo Lawyers will confront them in various forms, in the daily grind that awaits them as lawyers. We trust and pray that each one of them will continue to value and strive for excellence as they serve our fellowmen and our nation and uphold the rule of law founded upon a rule of justice, all for the greater glory of God, all in The Ateneo Way.
Not any less gratitude goes to all of you who, in true Ateneo Law spirit, have been so extremely generous in selflessly giving of yourselves to help our bar takers in the September 2023 bar exams. As we rejoice and celebrate, let us not ever forget, nor cease to support, those among our Ateneo Law bar takers who may have missed the cutoff this time around but will, without doubt, regroup and rise with renewed confidence and resolve. We are, and will always be, here for you.
One big fight!
