ASOG co-organizes the PSPA 2023 International Conference
05 Dec 2023
The Ateneo School of Government supported the Philippine Society for Public Administration (PSPA) as a co-organizer of its 2023 International Conference with the theme "Advancing Public Administration: Governance Innovations and Futures" from 24 to 26 November 2023 in General Santos City. Over two hundred delegates, including participants from other ASEAN countries, convened to develop ideas and strategize agendas supporting reforms and innovations in the Philippine bureaucracy.
ASOG contributed two presentations to the said event. Dr. Philip Arnold Tuano, Dean of the Ateneo School of Government, discussed context-based policy innovations across Philippine provinces, aiming to veer away from a ‘one size fits all’ approach to development. This presentation is based on a published study co-authored by Dean Tuano. (Read here: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4503068)
Dr. Ronald U. Mendoza, former ASOG Dean and Senior Economist with the Ateneo Policy Center, also presented his work as a Congressional Research Fellow on government rightsizing. The panel included Batangas Gov. Dodo Mandanas, AGRI Party-list Rep. Wilbert Lee, and ARTA Sec. Ernesto Perez. The presentation is based on a forthcoming paper co-authored with Dr. Alex Brillantes, former Dean of the UP- National College of Public Administration and Governance.
