Tonight, 5 December 2023, Ateneo de Manila University honors the performance of the Ateneo School of Law at the 2023 Bar Examinations by lighting up the Church of the Gesu and Areté in blue.
Based on the records released by the Supreme Court, Ateneo ranked first among all law schools that had more than 100 bar candidates in September's bar exams, registering a 94.08 percent passing rate among first time takers.
In addition, three Ateneans made it into the top twenty. These were Mr Mark Josel Padua Vivit, who placed second with a score of 89.13 percent; Mr Bryan Gerard Tapnio Antonio, who placed seventh with a score of 88.31 percent; and Ms Janel Nathalie Ang Co, who finished twentieth with a score of 87.66 percent.
"I trust that we all share in the ineffable joy felt by of each one of our Ateneo Law alumni bar passers—for many of us, we remember only too well what that feels like—and all collectively glow in overwhelming pride in this, their accomplishment and that of our institution," stated Atty Jose Maria G Hofileña, Dean of the Ateneo School of Law, in his congratulatory message.
Dean Hofileña added that he hoped that the new Atenean lawyers would continue to strive for excellence even after their momentous achievement in the bar exams.
"We trust and pray that each one of them will continue to value and strive for excellence as they serve our fellowmen and our nation and uphold the rule of law founded upon a rule of justice, all for the greater glory of God, all in The Ateneo Way."
