Poster Presentation Award for ECCE students and faculty at HIC PH 2023

Fifth-year electronics engineering undergraduates Mark Jason Aguilar and Raphael Enrico Catapang and Engr Jose Claro N Monje, assistant professor of the Department of Electronics, Computer, and Communications Engineering (ECCE), secured a Poster Presentation Award at the 4th Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in the Philippines (HIC PH) 2023. The conference, held on 11 November 2023, at the University of Santo Tomas under the theme "Convergence of reformative technologies for localized solutions," provided a platform for transformative technologies addressing unique challenges within the country.

Aguilar and Catapang's winning poster showcased their undergraduate thesis, titled "Development of a low-cost smart pill dispensing system with IoT-based mobile application." Guided by the expertise of their adviser, Engr Monje, the students demonstrated innovation in addressing a real-world problem through their project.
Among 32 poster presentations, Aguilar and Catapang's group emerged as one of the five poster presentation awardees, earning a cash prize of PHP 5,000. HIC PH 2023 is organized by Leave a Nest Philippines, Inc, a dynamic subsidiary of Leave a Nest Co, Ltd, Japan, established in 2021 with the mission of "harmonizing science and technology stakeholders for the empowerment of Filipinos."
