EU, UN Resident Coordinator's Office commemorate International Human Rights Day with Ateneo Human Rights Center

The European Union (EU) in collaboration with the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office and the Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC) commemorated International Human Rights Day through “Human Rights: Upholding Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All,” a documentary film screening and panel discussion on indigenous peoples rights and environmental protection last 12 December 2023 at the Ateneo Professional Schools Amphitheater.
The documentary film depicted the narratives of indigenous communities facing environmental and human rights challenges.
Ateneo School of Law Dean, Atty Jose Maria Hofileña delivered the welcome remarks. Dean Hofileña shared ways in which the legal community can largely contribute to human rights promotion and access to justice for all.
European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Luc Véron strongly stressed the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) as a testament to everyone’s commitment to upholding dignity, freedom, and justice for all. He also reiterated the commitment of the EU in upholding and promoting human rights.
Among those who delivered messages of support and commitment to upholding human rights were: Dr. Selva Ramachadran, UNDP Resident Representative and Hon. Atty. Richard Palpal-latoc, Commission on Human Rights Chair.
