Two Ateneo Law faculty appointed to the Permanent Court of Arbitration
04 Jan 2024
The Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines recently informed the public of the confirmation by the International Bureau of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) of the appointment of four members of the PCA from the Philippines. Established in 1900 pursuant to the Hague Peace Conference of 1899, the PCA is an intergovernmental organization dedicated to serving the international community in the field of dispute resolution.
Based on our belief and expectation that acknowledged expertise and integrity are essential traits for appointments of this sort to a significant international organization such as the PCA, it is with special pride that we note that two of such newly appointed members are current members of the faculty of the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law (ALS) — Dean Sedfrey M Candelaria and Dean Antonio M La Viña, former Deans of ALS and the Ateneo School of Government, respectively.
The ALS congratulates Dean Sedfrey and Dean Tony and wishes each one of them all the best as they carry out their PCA duties.
