14 Feb 2024
The Ateneo School of Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Kenneth Y Hartigan-Go as the new Commissioner for the Lancet Commission.
This Lancet Commission is an ongoing initiative that uses “Cities without Aedes” principles, looking into how cities and towns can be built and managed to reduce the risk of mosquito-transmitted diseases. There is growing global urbanization and coupled with climate change consequences, the challenge is about how society can develop effective control programs using innovative technologies in “creating cities without Aedes mosquitoes”. Multisectoral strategy on Aedes mosquito prevention is one of the basic components of sustainable and healthy modern urban environments.
Dr Kenneth Hartigan-Go currently serves as the Senior Research Fellow of the Health Governance Program of the Ateneo Policy Center, the public policy think tank of the Ateneo School of Government. He is also an Adjunct Faculty at the Asian Institute of Management. Dr Hartigan-Go served as the Undersecretary of the Department of Health from 2015 to 2016, Director General of the Food and Drugs Administration from 2012 to 2014, and Deputy Director of the Bureau of Food and Drugs from 1999 to 2001.
