Ateneo and Huawei sign supplemental agreement to continue support for scholars

Ateneo de Manila University and Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc signed a supplemental agreement on 21 February 2024 to continue granting scholarships to deserving students of Ateneo.

The agreement is a supplement to the Memorandum of Agreement signed by Ateneo and Huawei back in 28 September 2020. 

Signing the agreement were Dr Maria Luz C Vilches, Ateneo de Manila Vice President for Higher Education, and Mr Chahol Liang, Huawei Technologies Philippines Senior Public Affairs Manager.

Also in attendance from Huawei were Ms Paulina Alberto, Public Affairs Manager; Ms Alyssandra Lozano, Human Resource Recruitment Specialist; and Mr Andrei Manuel, Talent Ecosystem Manager.

Meanwhile, Dr Vilches was joined by Dr Jose Maria Edito K Tirol, Director of the Office of Admission and Aid; Fr Norberto Bautista, SJ, Director of the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs; Mr Carlos Oppus, Faculty of the Department of Electronics, Computer and Communications Engineering; Ms Christine Magboo, Assistant to the OAA Director for Scholarships; and Ms Lidel Bajao, Scholarship Officer.

Under the existing MOA, Huawei has helped provide scholarships for Ateneo students studying under the BS Computer Science, BS Electronics Engineering, and BS Computer Engineering. Three scholars have since graduated since the original MOA's signing: Mr Bienvenido Villabroza (BS CS 2022), Mr Luke Bennett Lao (BS CpE 2023), and Mr Allan Carlisle Choachuy (BS CpE 2023).

By signing the supplemental agreement, Huawei renews its commitment to help support Ateneo scholars studying under the aforementioned programs.
