Anton Bugaoan is National Minecraft Education champion

Several members of Ateneo de Manila Junior High School’s BluBLOC varsity team emerged as podium finishers and finalists in the 4th Philippine National Minecraft Education Competition, which was held on February 3, 2024, in the Henry Sy Sr Innovation Center of Miriam College in Quezon City.

Leading the winners was Anton Bugaoan (10-Pires), who emerged as the individual category’s junior high school (JHS) division champion. Placing second in the same category was Liam Daga (10-Saito).

In the JHS team category, BluBLOC Team C- consisting of members Amiel Baquir (9-Grimaltos), Ian Auto (7-Berno), and Dylan Lim (7-Alonso)- placed third.

Meanwhile, Paco Javier (7-Alfonso) ended his run in the competition as a finalist in the JHS individual category. BluBLOC Team A - composed of members Ethan So (7-Berno), Trystan Gomez (10-Realino), Wackyboy Buenaventura (10-Realino) and Adrian Rodulfo (10-Realino) – and BluBLOC Team B- composed of members Gavin Mallari (7-Alvarez), Fonzy Sevilla (10-Realino), Ralf Ceralde (10-Pires) and Nouie Sanvictores (10-Realino) – also concluded their run as finalists in the JHS team category.

The competition’s theme, “Cybersecurity,” challenged participants to showcase their understanding of the critical issue of digital safety. In the finals, 18 schools were represented by 48 contestants in the individual and team categories.   

The 4th Philippine National Minecraft Education Competition was presented by FELTA (First in Educational Learning Trends Always) and Microsoft.
