Achievements to date of the partnership between Security Bank Foundation, Inc. and ACED
28 Feb 2024
The Security Bank Foundation, Inc (SBFI) and Ateneo de Manila University – through the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) – have so much to be grateful for since the partnership began in 2011!
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Security Bank Corporation then, SBFI committed to build 60 classrooms within five years through the “Build a School Build a Nation Program”. ACED was invited to provide training programs for school leaders and teachers in the beneficiary schools of this project. By the end of 2023, SBFI and ACED celebrated the completion of 771 classrooms in 139 school buildings in 135 schools all over the country. Located in 79 cities and municipalities throughout the Philippines, these classrooms now benefit 221,500 students from Kindergarten to Senior High School.
Moreover, the partnership between SBFI and ACED has also succeeded in training 124 school principals and more than 36,000 teachers in English, Science, and Mathematics. These numbers include the 60 teachers and 30 school principals participating in the “Mentoring Future Leaders for Nation Building Program” launched last year. The training for school principals includes a 4-month international Certificate in Educational Studies in Leadership course implemented in partnership with The HEAD Foundation Singapore and the University of Nottingham of the United Kingdom.
SBFI and ACED are committed to pursue tirelessly and steadfastly the goal of providing a better future for the Filipino children in public schools through a good basic education. As Amartya Sen once said, “to build a country, build a school house”.
