Fostering Intellectual Property: AIPO hosts Trademark Awareness Session for the General Public

Over 300 participants representing various institutions recently gathered for a Trademark Awareness Session, organized by the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO). The webinar took place on 27 February 2024 via Zoom, offering attendees the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of trademark protection.

The webinar featured Dr Kenny Bayudan, Senior IP Specialist from the IP Academy of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), as the distinguished speaker. With his extensive expertise in intellectual property matters, Dr Bayudan provided invaluable insights into the importance of trademarks and their role in safeguarding innovations. 

Throughout the session, participants gained a deeper understanding of trademarks and their related rights, learned about the registration process, and learned other important principles in trademark maintenance and renewal. The speaker’s presentation captivated the attendees, empowering them with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect their brands effectively. 

The event also served as a platform for knowledge-sharing among participants from diverse backgrounds and institutions, citing example cases on various trademark issues. By delving into specific cases, participants gained a deeper appreciation for the complexities and challenges surrounding trademark protection.

By fostering a deeper appreciation for intellectual property rights, the Trademark Awareness Session underscored the vital role that AIPO plays in promoting innovation and protecting creativity within the academic and entrepreneurial communities.
