Building a Zero Hunger Philippines: A TALAB 2023 talk by Gawad Kalinga-Ateneo

Zero Hunger
Partnerships for the Goals
GKA-TALAB-1

To address the pressing problem of hunger, Ateneo de Manila University, through Gawad Kalinga-Ateneo and in collaboration with the Zero Hunger Alliance, organized a compelling talk as part of Ateneo's Talakayang Alay sa Bayan (TALAB) 2023, held on 17 October 2023. This event, held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, garnered overwhelming participation of approximately 200 enthusiastic Ateneo students.

The panel featured speakers Clarice Enriquez and Mark Lawrence Cruz from Gawad Kalinga-Ateneo, and Chelsea Paterno, Secretariat Head of the Zero Hunger Alliance. Each speaker's insightful contribution added depth to the overall discourse on the urgent pursuit of Gawad Kalinga's Zero Hunger advocacy. The discussion also shed light on the 5M Approach and highlighted the collaborative initiatives of the Zero Hunger Alliance. This event served as a pivotal platform, fostering awareness and instilling a sense of commitment among participants to work towards a future free from hunger.

GKA-TALAB-2

The talk not only brought attention to the gravity of the hunger crisis but also emphasized actionable steps through the 5M Approach to Zero Hunger (Magtulungan, Magpakain, Magpakalusog, Magtanim, Mag-connect), which encourages collective efforts to address the multifaceted challenges of malnutrition and food insecurity.

The event showcased a united front against hunger, inspiring the active involvement of the Ateneo community. By creating a space for dialogue and knowledge-sharing, this event proved instrumental in cultivating a sense of responsibility and dedication among the participants, contributing to the broader mission of building a hunger-free future.

The collaboration between Ateneo de Manila University, Gawad Kalinga-Ateneo, and the Zero Hunger Alliance exemplifies the power of collective action and highlights the importance of educational institutions in driving social change. #HungerEndsWhereCaringBegins #LetsEndHungerTogether
