ASOG, ANU, and Ateneo Law conduct roundtable on Philippine foreign relations

On 02 May 2024, the Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) with the Australian National University (ANU), and the Ateneo School of Law (Ateneo Law) held a Roundtable Discussion (RTD) titled “Strategic Alliances and Disengagements: The Philippines’ International Relationships in Recent Times”, at Ateneo de Manila University's Rockwell Campus, Makati City.

The RTD is part of a five-year Australian Research Council-funded project, ‘Reconceiving Engagement with International Law in the Populist Era’ with three Chief Investigators and a Postdoctoral Fellow from ANU, namely, Professor Jeremy Farrall, Professor Jolyon Ford, Associate Professor Imogen Saunders, and Dr Nina Araneta-Alana. Moreover, this event was hosted by ANU in cooperation with ASOG and Ateneo Law, bringing together key discussants from government and academia to identify the Philippines’ interaction with international law within the last nine years focusing on four key areas – foreign policy and institutional dynamics, perceived disengagement with certain institutions and partnerships, human rights, and cooperation in the realm of national security, trade and investment, and health.
