On 29-30 July 2024, Philippine Studies: Historical and Ethnographic Viewpoints, an internationally refereed journal published quarterly by the School of Social Sciences, held its first-ever write-shop for early-career researchers.

The intensive two-day mentoring session featured established scholars, Dr Rhacel Parreñas of Princeton University and Dr Ramon Guillermo of the University of the Philippines - Diliman, and nine fellows from local and international institutions.

The panelists guided the participants in drafting article-length manuscripts that will eventually be submitted to the journal for possible publication.

On the first day, Dr Filomeno V Aguilar Jr, AVP for Research, Creative Work and Innovation welcomed the fellows and panelists to Ateneo and the write-shop. He introduced the journal, its origins and mission, and wished the participants a fruitful and productive two days.

Dean Czarina Saloma-Akpedonu of the School of Social Sciences then formally concluded the write-shop the following afternoon, where the participants and panelists discussed post-write-shop plans as well as an overview of the journal’s publication process.
