2 ASHS debate teams are Chinese Int'l School BP grand finalists; Mirandilla is 2nd Best Open Speaker

During the summer break, members of the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School debate varsity performed impressively in the Chinese International School British Parliamentary (CIS BP) Summer Open 2024, enjoying podium finishes and winning several Best Speaker awards in the process.
The team composed of Leah Joy Rivera (12-Beyzym) & Jhanleigh Vivas (12-Holland) ranked 2nd in the Open Category and gracefully ended its run as Open Grandfinalist.
Similarly, the team of Skye Cabrera (12-Daniel) & Rafael Carasig (12-Grodecky) ranked 6th in the Open Category and bowed out also as Open Grandfinalist.
Ateneans also bagged individual Best Speaker accolades, with Kiel Mirandilla (ASHS Class of 2024) being named 2nd Best Open Speaker, Leah Joy and Jhanleigh tying as the 4th Best Open Speakers, and Sian Trasmontero (12-Kibe) being named 9th Best Open Speaker. (Kiel & Sian comprised the team that bowed out of the competition as Open Semifinalist.)
Held online on 8-9 June 2024, the CIS BP Summer Open 2024 was an intensive and highly competitive open debate. It attracted over 70 debaters from around the world, including some of Asia's best debaters and adjudicators.
