Two AJHS BluBLOC varsity members qualify for Robot Virtual Games World Championship; Matty Trinidad achieves perfect score

Two Ateneo de Manila Junior High School BluBLOC varsity members – Matty Trinidad (7-Azevedo) and Marc Tiongson (7-Briant) – have qualified for the Robot Virtual Games (RVG) World Championship after reaching the qualifying score of 50 points in the RVG Philippines Qualifying Round held from 21 to 26 October and 29 October 2024.
In addition, Trinidad was one of only 21 gamers from the Philippines to achieve a perfect score of 100 points in the qualifiers, where he was assigned to the Elementary category for those 12 and under. Matty also had the 17th-best time nationally, achieving his perfect score in 49.981 seconds.
Meanwhile, BluBLOC's Marc Tiongson also qualified for the RVG World Championship after scoring 60 points in 27.195 seconds.
Per the RVG website, the challenge for those competing in the Elementary category was as follows: "We are looking to prevent natural disasters in Metur City. That´s why our mission is to distribute emergency provisions for homes, hospitals, buildings and power plants. Before you can bring the supplies you must clean the garbage on the streets at the entrance of the city."

The Robot Virtual Games Championship is an online competition where contestants are tasked to program virtual robots to complete challenges in a virtual environment, one that tests their robotics and programming skills in various scenarios. It is open to programmers from all over the world.
