The lecture aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of intellectual property, emphasizing its significance in protecting innovations and fostering creativity in their academic and professional pursuits.

The session opened with Ms Madielaine Fatallo, Research Officer III at AIPO, who provided an overview of the intellectual property system, focusing on patents, utility models, and industrial designs and explaining their role in protecting inventions and technical solutions in the engineering field.

Ms Charity Maquiling, Research Officer at AIPO discussed trademarks, focusing on their importance in building and protecting brand recognition, especially for students aspiring to commercialize their work.

The session emphasized that early awareness of intellectual property equips students with strategies to protect their innovations and navigate competitive markets effectively. By integrating IP education into their learning, future engineers are better prepared to secure their creative works and transform their ideas into impactful contributions to society.

This initiative reflects AIPO's commitment to nurturing a culture of innovation and intellectual property awareness among the youth, ensuring they are well-prepared to thrive in knowledge-driven industries.
