ASHS student Chloe Galamgam wins 7 golds for PH in Asia Open Memory tilt; is named Jr div Int'l Overall Champ

Representing the Philippines as a member of the Philippine Memory Team, Ateneo de Manila Senior High School student Chloe Galamgam (11-Angelis) won seven gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal in the Asia Open Memory Championship 2024 held from 28-29 September 2024 at Singapore Polytechnic in Singapore. Among the golds won by Chloe was the one for International Overall Champion in the Juniors division.

Here are the details behind Chloe’s 11 medals: 

GOLD

  • Overall Juniors Division Champion
  • 30 min Binary Numbers (she memorized more than a thousand numbers)
  • 5 min Numbers (more than 200 numbers)
  • 30 min Numbers (728 numbers)
  • 30 min Marathon Cards (she memorized 8 decks of shuffled cards)
  • Spoken Numbers (80)
  • 15 min Random Words (160 words) 

SILVER

  • 15 min Names & Faces
  • 5 min Speed Cards
  • 5 min Dates

BRONZE

  • 5 min Random Images 

Chloe was also given another medal for successfully meeting the required criteria to be promoted as a Grandmaster of Memory (GMM) from Dan 1 to Dan 2. This followed her memorization of the following during these respective clock times:

  • 8 Decks of Shuffled Cards in 30 Minutes
  • 79 Seconds in Speed Cards (one deck of cards)
  • 728 Random Numbers in 30 Minutes
  • 160 Random Words in 15 Minutes

Per a report published in the Philippine Star, the Philippines placed third overall in the event, behind champion Japan and 1st runner-up Indonesia. Also participating in the championship were teams from China, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Singapore.  

Organized by the Singapore Memory Sports Association (SMSA) and Singapore Polytechnic Memory Sports Club (SPMSC), the Asia Open Memory Championship 2024 was also sanctioned by the Global Alliance of Memory Athletics (GAMA) and Asia Memory Sports Alliance (AMSA).
