Ateneo GSB's Center for Continuing Education celebrates its 29th anniversary

Last Wednesday, 27 November 2024, the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business celebrated its 29th anniversary at a gathering held at the Conservatory at the Peninsula Manila Hotel.

The CCE was initially established in 1995 as the Basic Leadership Program (BLP) to complement the existing Ateneo-BAP Institute of Banking (ABIB), a consortium between Ateneo de Manila University and the Bankers Association of the Philippines. The BLP was designed to address specific industry concerns that require immediate, purposeful, and focused response by offering continuing professional development programs.

The BLP eventually grew beyond just being a complement of ABIB, first turning into Continuing Professional Education (CPE) before eventually becoming the CCE that we know today.

It was this history that was fondly looked back upon by the various speakers during the celebration, many of who looked back to its early days while also reflecting on what the CCE has now become. These included CCE director Marleth Cabanog, as well as the various current and former program directors, Bim Mercado, Kent Valderrama, Roy Lacsamana, Maria Socorro Jamias, AGSB Dean Jowett C Magsaysay, Larry Esguerra, and Voltaire Gonzales.

CCE administrators Aubrey Ty, Francis Joseph De Leon, and Maricar Camorongan also shared some stories with the group. 

In addition to the speakers, there were also a number of games that challenged the participants to test their knowledge of the CCE and Ateneo history. A video presentation was also played remembering the members of the CCE community who have since joined our Creator.

Following all the speeches, AGSB Dean Magsaysay gave his closing remarks where he led a toast towards CCE continued success.

As a parting, those who attended were given a token of an Ateneo tumbler.
