Nine Questions for Christmas – Fifth One

Subject: Nine Questions for Christmas – Fifth One

Spirits searching and yearning ask: do we have a home?

Everyone has a need to belong. No one would say no to solace and security. And all of us yearn for a sense of home. In fact, many of us design and arrange our houses not just to make it relaxing but also to give it a feel of being homey. We relish moments when we can just be, knowing we are accepted and safe. And these days, we may attend get-togethers and reunions to relive or realize connection, companionship, coming home.

When Jesus was born, he left the home of His Father, so to speak, to be with us. And it was not for any other reason but to let us know that we belong with God. That we can find solace and security in Him. That even as this world may shake or confuse us, we can be certain that we have a home in His heart and in His plans.

Home. At the end of each day, in the midst of challenging situations, and when times are good, what gives us consolation and what completes our happiness is going home. In this time of celebrations and festivities, a good Christmas wish for one another is that we may always have a home to come to, to go back to. And it would not be a futile wish for in an unfathomable yet definite way, God has already fulfilled this when He sent His Son in our midst.

Can we allow ourself to hope and dream?
Have we experienced what being cherished means?

Racing through life, can there still be more?
Is it possible that something better is in store?
Spirits searching and yearning ask: do we have a home?
