AIS launches fourth Sustainability Report

The Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS) has launched its 4th Sustainability Report, covering the years 2019-2022, a period marked by the global  pandemic. This edition of the Sustainability Report Series of AIS highlights the university’s journey to Integral Ecology despite the challenges posed by COVID-19. What makes this report special is its alignment to Laudato Si’ Action Platform (LSAP) in response to the call of Pope Francis’ 7-year journey towards integral ecology.

One of the key highlights of this report is the Educational Innovation and Leadership wherein reform and development in the education system were emphasized. In particular, the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design (GBSEALD) was established together with the significant decision towards inclusivity and diversity through the full co-educational implementation in Basic Education.

Another key highlight is Ateneo's response to the COVID-19 pandemic wherein initiatives like Blue Aid that provided financial assistance to employees was implemented and a cloud-based disease surveillance tool called FASSTER, (Feasibility Analysis of Syndromic Surveillance using Spatio-Temporal Epidemiological Modeler for Early Detection of Diseases), was developed to aid decision-making during the pandemic.

Since 2014, Ateneo de Manila University has been committed to publishing triennial sustainability reports that detail its environmental, social, and economic impacts which serve as an invaluable tool for measuring, understanding, and communicating the university’s sustainability journey to its stakeholders. These reports are in reference with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international not-for-profit organization that helps organizations communicate their sustainability performance.
