Ateneo Confucius Institute celebrates Chinese New Year 2025
25 Feb 2025
In celebration of the 2025 Lunar New Year, the Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de Manila University held a series of in-campus and off-campus events from 25 January to 09 February.

On 25 and 29 January, the Institute held an arts and crafts workshop for kids at Robinsons Magnolia and Robinsons Galleria. Activities include a mini lecture on Chinese New Year customs and traditions, followed by an art workshop featuring Chinese paper cutting and lantern making. Participants who completed all activities received a special prize. Both activities were done in collaboration with Robinsons Malls.
The annual CNY Kids Corner open to children aged 5 to 12 years was held on the morning of 29 January. Led by CI Ateneo teachers, the students engaged in storytelling activities, CNY culture discussion, lantern making, DIY Red packet (Hongbao) making, Fragrant Packet (Xiangnang) making, and concluded the session with a New Year song and dance activity.
The Institute’s Cycle class students also participated in the CNY celebration held on 01 February. Activities include six Chinese art and culture stations that students need to accomplish to get a raffle prize. “CI Café,” an interactive language practice activity where students can apply their knowledge in ordering food in a real-life setting was also available during the event.
Lastly, CI Ateneo co-organized the 21st Annual Philippine-China Traditional Cultural Festival held on 09 February at Chinese Garden, Rizal Park Luneta, Manila. This year’s festival is also in celebration of the 50th Golden Anniversary of the formal diplomatic relations between Philippines and China. Among the co-organizers are the Manila City Local Government and Chinese Embassy in the Philippines. The Institute arranged art workshops and cultural performances for the event.
