On 29 March 2025, the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) in partnership with Gaming Library successfully hosted an interactive board game-based workshop on innovative leadership, offering participants a unique learning experience that combined strategy, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Held in the Aboitiz Sandbox Zone in Areté, the event provided an engaging platform for professionals and aspiring leaders to enhance their critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration—four essential skills in leadership and innovation.

The workshop was led by Mr George “GQ” Quitoriano, Resident Entrepreneur of AIPO. Rather than using traditional lecture-based methods, GQ and his team introduced a game-based learning approach, allowing participants to actively engage in leadership challenges within a simulated environment. Through board games, attendees navigated complex scenarios, practiced strategic decision-making, and adapted to dynamic situations, all while fostering teamwork and effective communication.

The workshop encouraged participants to step into leadership roles where they had to make quick yet thoughtful decisions, negotiate with peers, and develop creative solutions to in-game challenges. By working through these interactive exercises, attendees strengthened their ability to think critically under pressure, articulate ideas clearly, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams—key qualities for driving innovation and leadership in today’s fast-evolving world.

Participants expressed enthusiasm about the experience, noting how the board game approach provided deeper insights into leadership dynamics and problem-solving strategies. The hands-on nature of the activities helped them gain confidence in decision-making, creative problem-solving, and foster a mindset of collaboration.

This workshop is part of AIPO’s ongoing commitment to developing innovation-driven leadership through experiential and engaging learning methods. The team looks forward to hosting more dynamic sessions that empower individuals to lead with confidence and creativity. The next session is scheduled for 12 April, and participants can look forward to another interactive experience designed to enhance their leadership skills.
