Gab Asuncion is Champion, Top Scorer, and Diamond awardee of GELOSEA English proficiency Olympiad

Representing the Philippines, AJHS student Gab Asuncion (8-Canisius) emerged as the Champion and Top Scorer of the Secondary 2 Category at the Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA) International Round, held from 2-5 April 2025 in Incheon, South Korea. In addition to his championship title, Gab received the prestigious Diamond Award, granted to participants who score 90 points or higher in GELOSEA's rigorous assessments. This distinction reflects exceptional proficiency in the English language and places recipients among the top performers in the region.

The GELOSEA is a renowned international competition that champions excellence in English across Southeast Asia. Open to students from Kindergarten to Senior Secondary levels, the Olympiad tests participants in various disciplines—including Reading Comprehension, Analogy, Vocabulary and Spelling, Grammar and Correct Usage, and Essay Writing (for Secondary and Senior Secondary levels). Beyond academic recognition, GELOSEA also fosters cultural exchange and regional tourism. Participants experience not only high-level competition but also the opportunity to explore the host country’s heritage and modern attractions.

The GELOSEA International Round 2025 brought together students from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
