On 9 July 2025, the Ateneo School of Government, in partnership with the Department of Health — Disease Prevention and Control Bureau (DOH—DPCB), held the first Key Result Area (KRA) Expert Group Meeting for the National Tobacco Cessation Infrastructure Plan 2025-2030.

The National Tobacco Cessation Infrastructure Plan 2025-2030 serves as a comprehensive, multi-year action plan that will guide how tobacco cessation services—such as brief tobacco intervention, intensive counseling, the national Quitline, mCessation, and pharmacotherapy—are structured, expanded, and sustained within the health system. The infrastructure plan will be developed through a consultative process involving multiple sectors and the public, guided by field realities, research, and best practices. Its implementation framework will be aligned with the DOH’s National Tobacco Prevention and Control Strategy 2030 and will take into account practical considerations for effective delivery.
After two rounds of framework planning workshops held from April to May 2025, involving a wide range of stakeholders from the DOH, civil society, non-government organizations, local government units, hospitals, and others, a set of goals, objectives, and key result areas was developed to guide the infrastructure plan.
Experts who participated in these meetings were invited to support the key result areas as resource persons who will develop a comprehensive and evidentiary basis for the key priorities in each of these KRAs.
The next phase of the infrastructure plan development process includes a comprehensive review and assessment of tobacco cessation services across the Philippines and a scheduled writeshop this coming August 2025.
