Ateneo de Manila University’s Alphabet Solutions clinched the championship title at the 10th Asian Business Case Competition (ABCC), held in Singapore from 16 to 21 July, 2025. The team emerged victorious after three intense rounds of case presentations.
Hosted by Nanyang Technological University and supported by the Asian Business Case Centre, ABCC is one of Asia’s longest running and most prestigious business case competitions. This year’s edition brought together 11 leading business schools from across the globe to tackle two real-life business challenges, testing their values, expertise, and strategic thinking.
Competing in ABCC for the first time, Ateneo was represented by Yeshua Celebrado (4 BS CTM), Mikayla Rae Guerrero (4 BS ME), Alexandra Ypil (4 AB MEC), and Juliana Zapanta (3 BS ME). Alphabet Solutions was coached by Ateneo alumni Louie Miranda (BS MGT 2023), Trina Hombre (BS MGT 2024, also the accompanying coach), Monica Sugay (BS MGT-H 2024), and James Soriano (BS MGT-H 2012).
In the first round, teams developed a Gen Z and Gen Alpha engagement strategy for Mandai Wildlife, Singapore’s leading conservation group. Alphabet Solutions’ mobile-first strategy earned them the top spot in their division, ahead of Hong Kong University, University of Technology Sydney, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The second round focused on an ASEAN expansion strategy for GYK Group, a Singapore-based shared services conglomerate. Facing a tough panel of judges, Alphabet Solutions placed 2nd in their division, behind Mahidol University. Their strong performance secured them a spot in the finals alongside Chulalongkorn University, Corvinus University, and Mahidol.
In the final round, teams revisited the GYK expansion challenge before a panel that included three GYK professionals. Incorporating feedback from earlier rounds, Alphabet Solutions delivered a clear, actionable strategy that impressed judges and audience members alike for its structured approach.
Alphabet Solutions ultimately took home 1st place overall, followed by Corvinus University (2nd) and Mahidol University (3rd). Apart from winning the championship, the team also bagged the Social Media Award. This victory marks a stellar ABCC debut for Ateneo and strengthens the university’s—and the Philippines’—growing presence in the global business case competition arena.
