Representing the Philippines, AJHS mathlete Lucas Aldave (8-Collins) earned a bronze medal at the 2nd Mathematics Master Cup (MMC) Global Finals held in Hong Kong on 21 July 2025.
Lucas' achievement contributed to the Philippine team’s strong showing, with the delegation winning a total of 3 gold, 4 silver, and 11 bronze medals—securing third place overall among 14 participating countries, behind only China and Hong Kong.
The MMC is no ordinary math competition. With its emphasis on Artificial Intelligence Mathematics, it goes beyond rote memorization and speed. Instead, it cultivates logical reasoning, programming & engineering math, and advanced problem analysis—preparing students for future-ready mathematical thinking. The problems are designed to be complex and thought-provoking, demanding creative solutions and higher-order thinking skills.
