In a gesture that celebrates loyalty, gratitude, and a shared commitment to excellence, Ateneo de Manila University and Januarius Holdings, Inc. signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) formalizing Januarius’ sponsorship of the Ateneo Blue Eagles’ foreign training camps.
The MOA signing, held at the university last 18 September 2025, was led by Mr Januario Jesus B “JJ” Atencio, Chief Executive Officer of Januarius Holdings and proud Ateneo alumnus, and Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, University President.
Also present at the event were Rodolfo P "Rudy" Ang, Vice President for Administration, Thomas Anthony "Tab" Baldwin, Head Coach of the Ateneo Blue Eagles; Christopher "Epok" Quimpo, Team Manager; Fr Nemesio "Nemy" Que SJ, Team Chaplain; Fr Raymund Benedict "RB" Hizon SJ, Director of the Office of University Development and Alumni Affairs; and Emmanuel "Em" Fernandez, Director of the University Athletics Office. Representing Januarius Holdings alongside Mr Atencio was Mr Paolo Cagalingan, Head of Private Equity and fellow Ateneo alumnus.
Fr Yap warmly welcomed Mr Atencio back into the Ateneo community as a major supporter of the men’s basketball program. “We’re happy that you are back home and here to stay,” he said, underscoring the significance of the renewed partnership between the university and one of its distinguished alumni.
For Mr Atencio, the sponsorship is deeply personal. “I am happy to sponsor the education of the student-athletes of the school where I actually studied and graduated from,” he shared. “This is the start of a long and fruitful partnership.”
Coach Tab Baldwin highlighted how crucial these training camps are to the team’s success. “These foreign trips contribute greatly in gelling and coming together of the team,” he noted, emphasizing that the experience of training abroad helps prepare the Blue Eagles both mentally and physically for the challenges of the season.
To kick off the partnership, the Blue Eagles’ 2025 foreign training camps were held in Spain last May and in Japan this August — giving the team valuable opportunities to train with international competition and further build chemistry ahead of the UAAP season.
Through this partnership, Januarius Holdings reaffirms its dedication to supporting holistic development, ensuring that the Ateneo Blue Eagles continue to represent the school with excellence, discipline, and the true spirit of Magis — doing more for the greater good.
