19 Sep 2025
In a gesture of generosity and thanks, Mr Jonathan Michael Sterling is establishing the Sterling Scholarship Fund to support deserving Ateneo College students. According to Mr Sterling, a British national currently residing in the Philippines, the fund is his way of giving back to the country in return for all that it has given him during his stay here.
The donation was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement at the Blue Room at the Ateneo de Manila University Rockwell Campus.
Representing the donors were Mr Jonathan Sterling himself and his partner, Ms Celeste Cortesi. Meanwhile, the University was represented by Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, University President; Fr Raymund Benedict “RB” Q Hizon SJ, Director of University Development and Alumni Affairs; and Dr Jose Maria Edito “Jo-Ed” Tirol, Director of the Office of Admission and Aid - Undergraduate Education.
The fund will be used to pay for the tuition and fees of 30 deserving Ateneo College students.
The Office of Admission and Aid - Undergraduate Education will manage the scholarship and provide annual reports to the donors on the scholar’s academic performance and the status of the fund.
