AJHS conducts first unannounced disaster drill of the school year
16 Oct 2025
On the morning of 15 October 2025, the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) conducted its second disaster preparedness drill of the school year, from 10:50 AM to 11:20 AM. Unlike the first scheduled drill held on 18 August, this was unannounced, catching students and personnel off guard. Despite the element of surprise, the AJHS community responded quickly and effectively. Everyone took cover immediately and evacuated swiftly upon hearing the announcement, demonstrating the school’s growing culture of preparedness.

This drill is part of the school’s “D.R.I.L.L.” initiative, an acronym that stands for:
• D – Develop Awareness
• R – Ready Your Go Bag
• I – Include a Hard Hat
• L – Learn Through Practice
• L – List Your Information
The unannounced drill comes at a critical time, following a series of recent earthquakes that have affected various parts of the Philippines over the past two weeks. It serves as a timely reminder of the importance of disaster readiness and the need for quick, coordinated responses during emergencies.
