JGSOM's Dr Emerald Jay D Ilac voted Chair-Elect of ILA's Leadership Scholarship Member Interest Community

The John Gokongwei School of Management (JGSOM) proudly congratulates Dr Emerald Jay D Ilac, Program Director of the PhD in Leadership Studies, on his election as Chair-Elect of the Leadership Scholarship Member Interest Community of the prestigious International Leadership Association (ILA)!
Dr Ilac is the first Filipino from the Philippines to be elected to a leadership position within the ILA, marking a significant milestone for Filipino leadership scholars on the global stage. The ILA serves as the professional home of a worldwide community of leadership researchers, educators, and development practitioners who share the belief that leadership is essential to building a just and thriving future for all. It is the largest leadership organization in the world, hosting annual global conferences attended by over a thousand participants from across the globe.
As Chair-Elect, Dr Ilac will play a pivotal role in guiding the ILA’s Leadership Scholarship Member Interest Community, a dynamic network of more than 700 ILA global members that unites both emerging and seasoned leadership scholars. The community promotes the sharing of research and theories, fosters collaboration, and supports scholarly work conducted both independently and collaboratively.
Dr Ilac will transition into his new role under the guidance of the current Chair, Dr Brandon Kliewer of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the immediate past Chair, Dr L J McElravy of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. In this three-year role, Dr Ilac will become Chair in 2027, and past Chair by 2028.
