48th University Service Awards special features: Elisha S Bacani
17 Feb 2026
Since 1978, Ateneo de Manila University has been honoring its employees with the University Service Awards, recognizing their dedication and commitment to the University’s mission.
Now in its 48th year, the University Service Awards continue to celebrate employees from all units whose service contributes to the growth and strength of the Ateneo community.
We’re excited to introduce some of this year’s awardees, who will share their stories, favorite places on campus, and reasons for staying at Ateneo.
Let’s meet Elisha, a ten-year service awardee from the University Human Resource Operations Shared Services Office.
Why Ateneo?
Ateneo became more than just a workplace; it became a place where I was able to grow personally and professionally. Over the years, I have seen how the University genuinely cares for its community and lives out its mission of service. I am truly grateful to be part of the Ateneo community for the past 10 years and to serve an institution that continues to inspire me.
What keeps you going?
What keeps me going is the sense of belonging I found here. Ateneo is where I feel comfortable, gained meaningful friendships, and have found joy in working with the people around me. It also inspires me to keep going so I can provide for and give back to my family.
Favorite memory at work
My favorite memories at work involve being with my colleagues, sharing laughter, having coffee, supporting each other, and receiving a simple “thank you” from those around me; it makes everything worthwhile.
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is our office. It’s where I feel most comfortable and secure, and where I get to interact with many people every day. It has truly become a place of belonging for me.
Most important lesson you’ve learned
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to live by Ignatian values—care for others, strive for Magis, and always choose kindness
