AJHS mathlete Kygel Pasco hailed as National Math Champ in Battle of Math and Science Champions

Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) mathlete Kygel Pasco (7-Alvares) brought pride to the community after being named National Champion (Gold Awardee) in the Math Quiz category of the 12th National Battle of Math and Science Champions, held in Baguio City on 20-21 February 2026.

Organized by the Association of Science and Mathematics Educators of Public and Private Schools (ASMEPPS), the competition gathered top student contenders from across the country, showcasing excellence in mathematics and science. Representing AJHS as the school’s sole participant, Kygel rose to the challenge and delivered an outstanding performance, securing the highest honor in the Math Quiz event. His victory reflects not only his dedication and talent in mathematics, but also the culture of excellence and magis nurtured within the AJHS community.

Now on its 12th year, the National Battle of Math and Science Champions gathered hundreds of student participants from schools across the Philippines. The competition featured rigorous written and quiz components designed to test speed, accuracy, and depth of understanding in mathematics and science, highlighting the country’s most promising young scholars.

Beyond his academic achievements, Kygel is an active member of the Ateneo math and basketball varsity teams, balancing both intellectual and athletic pursuits. His accomplishment stands as an inspiring example of how young Ateneans strive for excellence and represent the school with distinction on the national stage.
