ASHS mathlete Sam Dionisio clinches 1st runner-up award at PhIMO Final Round 2025

Representing the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School (ASHS), five mathletes advanced to the Final Round of the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad held on 19–22 September 2025. They were joined by three former Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (AJHS) students who are now in ASHS, bringing the school’s total medal haul to an impressive four golds, one silver, and three bronzes.
The PhIMO Final Round was conducted in both onsite and online formats. The onsite competition took place at the Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) Atrium in Cebu City, Philippines, where hundreds of qualified mathletes gathered for the face-to-face examinations and events. The awarding ceremony and related celebrations were subsequently held at JPark Island Resort and Waterpark in Lapu-Lapu City.
Leading the school’s strong showing in the PhIMO Final Round 2025 was gold medalist Sam Dionisio (12-Anchieta), who also emerged as First Runner-Up in the Senior Secondary Group category. As an online contestant, Sam earned this distinction by attaining one of the highest overall scores among senior secondary participants worldwide, with rankings determined based on final round results.
Fellow ASHS gold medalist Jam Vejerano (12-Solinas) also distinguished herself by winning the First Runner-Up Trophy in the Amazing Math Race for the Senior Secondary level, a special event held for onsite participants.
