Ateneo SALT hosts Apple Teacher Camp 2026 for BS LEARN students
18 Feb 2026
Last 24 January, Bachelor of Science in Learning Science and Design (BS LEARN) students and teachers from the Ateneo Basic Education attended the Apple Teacher Camp 2026. Conducted by the Ateneo Institute for the Science and Art of Learning and Teaching (Ateneo SALT) and Senco Link Technologies, the workshop was led by Teacher Carla Melendez, Apple Professional Learning Specialist.

This workshop was an opportunity to learn new skills and explore different Apple apps that they could use as current and future teachers.

Throughout the session, participants engaged in various activities that not only required them to practice using the different apps but also allowed them to reflect on their experiences as current and future educators.

Participants conducted an experiment and documented the results using Pages, a word processing and page layout application.

Each group got to choose a question to look deeper into and share their findings with the class using Keynote, a presentation software app.

Teacher Carla asked the participants to reflect on the importance of presenting students with choice.

Choices are partly there to provide flexibility and honor the individual personalities and needs of different learners.

There is also value in pushing students out of their comfort zones.

Choosing to be challenged is where curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking really thrive.

Participants were tasked to analyze, visualize, and interpret data from various points of view.

Not only was this an exercise in using the Numbers app (spreadsheet software), but a challenge on making decisions driven by data.

The activity also served as a reminder of their role as current and future educators who might be involved in decision making, and a practice in understanding issues from different perspectives.

As a final challenge, the participants got to try their hand at composing music and podcasts with Garage Band, and film and edit a short film on iMovie.

At the end of the workshop, all participants earned their Apple Teacher Badges, certifying that they can now use the Apple apps for teaching and learning.

This workshop was part of Ateneo SALT’s commitment to providing opportunities for teachers to learn more about learning design and learning technologies. In line with this, the Ateneo SALT has started offering iPads to be used for classes or other educational purposes. GBSEALD students or faculty may now borrow these from their office at the GBSEALD Studio, Learning Innovation Wing, 4F Areté.
