Gawad Kalinga-Ateneo Paskuhan 2025: Celebrating hope, creation, and solidarity

Over the weekends of December, the spirit of shared hope illuminated nine Gawad Kalinga Ateneo partner communities as GK Ateneo held its annual Paskuhan celebration.
With the theme “Liwanag ng Paglikha, Pag-asa ng Pasko,” this year’s festivities bridged the joy of the Nativity with a renewed commitment to environmental stewardship. The theme serves as a culmination of a year-long journey for the communities, who have been immersing themselves in the teachings of Laudato Si’ and the urgent call to care for our common home.

Paskuhan is a vibrant display of bayanihan. Students, faculty, and volunteers from various units, such as the Ateneo Grade School, the University Research Integrity Office (URIO), the Office of the AVP for Social and Environmental Engagement for Development and Sustainability (SEEDS) and the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP), joined hands to prepare Christmas food packs and organize programs that brought together residents of all ages. From spirited dance numbers to heartfelt song presentations, the air was filled with the laughter and gratitude of a community united by service.
The celebrations spanned various locations across Nueva Ecija, Cavite, and Quezon City, reaching around 1,234 families in the following partner communities:

GK-Ateneo Paskuhan 2025 is a beautiful reminder that love, especially during the Christmas season, is best expressed in service to others. By centering the celebration on “The Light of Creation,” the event highlighted that hope is found not only in receiving, but also in caring for and preserving our world for future generations.
Through this annual tradition, GK-Ateneo continues to nurture a culture of compassion, ensuring that the light of Christmas reaches every corner of its partner communities, one heart at a time.
