Twelve AJHS mathletes strike gold at Philippine Int’l Math Olympiad Final Round 2025

Representing the Ateneo de Manila Junior High (AJHS), 28 past and current AJHS mathletes won a total medal haul of 12 golds, four silvers, and 12 bronzes at the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) Final Round on 19-22 September 2025.
The PhIMO Final Round was conducted in both onsite and online formats. The onsite competition took place at the Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) Atrium in Cebu City, Philippines, where hundreds of qualified mathletes gathered for the face-to-face examinations and events. The awarding ceremony and related celebrations were subsequently held at JPark Island Resort and Waterpark in Lapu-Lapu City.

The PhIMO is a highly prestigious international mathematics competition for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. It seeks to challenge and celebrate young mathematical talent from around the world, while fostering cultural exchange and camaraderie through friendly competition. In recent years, the event has drawn participants from more than 15 countries — including the United States, Australia. Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Canada, and Vietnam — showcasing global participation and diverse mathematical excellence.
Among the AJHS mathletes who attended the competition onsite in Cebu were Russ de Belen, Mateo Palitog, and Kygel Pasco.
The mathletes from Ateneo de Manila Grade School who competed in the Primary 6 division were trained by AGS Primary 6 coach Javier Inumerable.
