ASOG meets with Department of Health—Bureau of International Health Cooperation to strengthen institutional partnership

On 27 February 2026, the Ateneo School of Government (ASOG), through its research and public policy unit, the Ateneo Policy Center, held a courtesy meeting with the Department of Health – Bureau of International Health Cooperation (DOH–BIHC), led by Director Joel Buenaventura. The meeting was joined by Emma Green, Director for Tobacco Control at Vital Strategies, alongside Senior Technical Advisor Madeleine Valera and Technical Advisor Reiner Tamayo.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration among ASOG, DOH–BIHC, and Vital Strategies, particularly in advancing shared priorities in public health governance, tobacco control, and international health cooperation. Discussions centered on identifying areas for strategic alignment, knowledge exchange, and potential joint initiatives that support evidence-informed policymaking and institutional capacity-building.
Participants underscored the value of sustained partnerships among government, academia, and civil society in addressing complex public health challenges. The meeting also reaffirmed a shared commitment to fostering long-term collaboration that supports national health priorities and strengthens the Philippines’ engagement in global health initiatives.
