[AGS] National Indigenous Peoples Week

“Ang lahat ng bagay ay magkaugnay, magkaugnay ang lahat.”

Isa ito sa mga linya mula sa awiting Magkaugnay ni Joey Ayala. Madalas itong marinig sa mga pagdiriwang na patungkol sa ating pagka-Filipino. Ito ay paalala na lahat ng bagay, may buhay man o wala, ay konektado sa ating araw-araw na buhay, lalo na ang ating kalikasan. 

Ang mga katutubo ang isa sa mga pangkat na may pinakamalalim na pag-unawa at pagmamahal sa kalikasan. Pinapangalagaan nila ang mga puno, ilog, bundok, at iba pang likas na yaman, lalo na ang kanilang lupain. Ngunit sa kanilang hangaring ipagtanggol ang kalikasan, kadalasan silang nahaharap sa mga pagsubok. Marami sa kanila ay nananatili sa kanilang mga lugar, pinipiling hindi sumabay sa modernong paraan ng pamumuhay, at lumalaban sa mga taong nais sirain ang kalikasan. Dahil dito, may ilan sa kanila na hindi nakakaranas ng pantay na karapatang pantao (gaya ng makapag-aral, makapagpagamot, o magkaroon ng maayos na tirahan), nawawalan ng pagkakataong umasenso at kung minsan pa’y nagbubuwis ng buhay. 

Sa pagdiriwang natin ng National Indigenous Peoples Week (Pambansang Linggo ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan), alalahanin natin sila. Silang piniling mamuhay ng payak, nag-aalay ng buhay para protektahan ang kalikasan, at araw-araw na lumalaban ng patas para mabuhay. Sana ay matutunan natin na sa ating bawat ginagawa, may mga taong hindi pa nararanasan ang ginhawa at pantay na karapatang gaya ng atin. Maging inspirasyon sana ito upang masiguro na sa ating pag-unlad bilang isang bansa, walang maiiwan, sapagkat tayong lahat ay magkaugnay.
