Taking its name from the Filipino word tagpuan—meaning “a place of meeting” or “coming together”—Tagpuan Ateneo proactively positions itself as a space where ideas, communities, and disciplines intersect. Through collaborative research, public dialogue, and creative initiatives, Tagpuan Ateneo seeks to bridge cultural divides through practices of academia, civic work, and grassroots action.
Tagpuan Ateneo embodies Ateneo’s commitment to engaged scholarship. It is a scholarly, training, and practice center for dialogues and collaborations of Ateneo de Manila University. As a Magis Aspiration center, Tagpuan Ateneo fosters a culture of dialogue in action through finding common ground and building common good, utilizing tools of transdisciplinary research, teaching, person formation, and societal engagement.
Last 10 October 2025, Tagpuan Ateneo celebrated its move to the Old Comm Building with an office blessing and community fellowship. Now in its third year of operations, Tagpuan Ateneo has been met with kindness from the Ateneo community. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Department of Economics have generously shared their offices with Tagpuan Ateneo from 2023 to 2025. The center is grateful for the continued support of the Dr Rosita G Leong School of Social Sciences.

The center’s programs include community-engaged initiatives such as the Campus Mobility Forum, Sinsayan, and the Tagpuan Ateneo Research Fellowships. Tagpuan Ateneo will be hosting the presentations of its research fellows this October to November 2025. The six working groups are interlocutors of pressing societal issues, particularly in the realms of democratic backsliding, political economy, LGBTQ+ inclusion, urban poor organizing, and environmental advocacy.
