Ateneo Professor Emeritus highlights interdisciplinary approaches to AI literacy at global AI forum
12 Jan 2026
At the Educators’ AI Global Forum 2025, held online on 27 September 2025, Emma Porio, Professor Emeritus of Ateneo de Manila University, was featured for her interdisciplinary contributions to discussions on artificial intelligence and education. The forum, themed "Demystifying AI Hallucinations: Foundations, Failures, and Fixes,” drew more than 1,000 participants worldwide and addressed the growing risks posed by AI-generated misinformation in teaching, learning, and research.
Professor Porio, together with colleagues affiliated with Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippines (CCARPH-Office of the President), brought a distinctive perspective that linked AI literacy with co-production and co-creation approaches in climate action research. Her intervention emphasized that understanding AI hallucinations was not only a technical challenge, but also a social and educational one.
By situating AI within broader questions of sustainability, Professor Porio’s work demonstrated how educators and researchers could responsibly integrate emerging technologies while remaining attentive to accuracy, accountability, and human agency.
