The URC, under the Office of the President, takes on the vital functions needed to advance research excellence in the University. It is in charge of setting direction, policy, strategy and review of research.
I have asked Dr Enriquez to chair the URC, while the office of the Associate Dean for Research and Creative Work, headed by Dr de las Peñas, shall provide administrative support to the work of the Council.
On behalf of the Ateneo de Manila, I would like to thank the new members of the Council for their gracious acceptance of this mission. We are also grateful to Dr Raymundo S Baquiran for serving in the Council and to Dr Filomeno V Aguilar Jr for his exemplary leadership as URC Chair these past three years. Dr Aguilar led the advancement in the university’s research strategy and in the upgrading of URC’s grant policies and guidelines.
May our research engagement strengthen our intellectual mission as educators of the Ateneo de Manila. Let our research lead us to strategic frontiers of creativity and innovation where we hope to rebuild our people and God’s creation ad majorem Dei gloriam.
